The move itself often gets all the attention, but unpacking is where a household actually starts feeling lived-in again. Urban Relocations offers unpacking as part of our relocation service, so you're not left opening dozens of cartons on your own after an already tiring moving day.

This is especially useful for larger households, families with young children or elderly members, and office moves where getting workstations functional quickly matters. We support unpacking across the cities we operate in, from Pune and Mumbai to Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai and beyond.

How it works

• Cartons are matched to the correct room or workstation based on the labelling done during packing
• Items are unpacked carefully, with packing material (bubble wrap, corrugated sheets) removed and set aside
• Furniture and appliances are placed as per your instructions at the new location
• Empty cartons and packing waste are cleared, based on the scope agreed

• Unwrapping of individually packed fragile items
• Placement of furniture, appliances and boxes as directed
• Removal of packing waste and empty cartons, where opted for

Unpacking generally goes faster when cartons were labelled well during packing — this is one reason we recommend booking packing and unpacking together where possible, since our team already knows what's inside each box and where it's meant to go. For moves where packing was done independently without our team, unpacking can still be arranged, though it may take a little longer since cartons need to be assessed as they're opened.

For kitchens in particular, unpacking usually means more than just placing boxes down — crockery, glassware and small appliances need to be unwrapped individually and arranged in cabinets, which takes time but makes a real difference to how quickly the kitchen becomes usable. Similarly for offices, having workstations unpacked and desks set up on day one usually means employees can get back to work faster.

You can choose the scope of unpacking that works for you — full unpacking across the home or office, or just specific rooms like the kitchen and bedrooms, with the rest left for you to handle at your own pace. Let our team know your preference during the survey or on move day itself.
